Comments

Widespread throughout the country up to an elevation of about 1,000m. Occurs also in lagoons, where it has been found to breed in occasion. Prefers still water. Very common to the extent of being a threat, due to competition for resources, to almost all the other fishes of inland waters. Recorded from a large number of reservoirs (Ref. 27518, 37646, 51324, 55376, 57443, 57454, 57742). Also Ref. 3, 1739, 4833, 5727, 12062, 13544, 38706, 43640.
